Relaxed and relevant: Dealflow night connected metropolitan area tech-minded startups and investors
DealFlow Night 2024, organised for the first time, brought together pre-seed and seed stage investors and growth startups as Business Helsinki Accelerator, Health Incubator Helsinki and Aalto Startup Center presented their most promising Health Tech, Urban Tech and Clean Tech startups to investors.
Prior to the event, teams were coached by a professional pitch coaches Oki Tåg and Minna Mustapää from Trainshare. This ensured the quality of the presentations and the ability of the entrepreneurs to present their unique solutions. The event highlighted the important role of incubators and accelerators as part of the lively startup ecosystem in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area.
Burak Gerik, founder of Benerg.io startup building biogas machines producing energy from food waste was very pleased with the results.
"We wanted to meet with investors, discover piloting or commercial agreements with potential players and create tangible and concrete next steps along with good introduction meetings. We had some results already by inviting important investors to our investment round and now we had a chance to develope our discussion with investors from the EU and the USA," Gerik says.
Also Annika Järvelin, business developer from Natal Mind offering solutions for perinatal mental health, can recommend the experience. “DealFlow Night has the potential to grow into a good link between startups and R2B projects and investors. It was easy to approach investors in a relaxed atmosphere and ask for ideas and feedback on the pitch while enjoying good food and drinks. The event gave us one investor on our trip with whom we will continue our discussions,” Järvelin concludes.
The event received praise also from investor side with special credit given to the work the teams had invested in their pitches and the born global mindset which was reflected in the business plans.
"It was a great event with high quality pitches and the mood was just right. The crowd was just the right size for real fruitful networking. We need more reasonable sized, relaxed atmosphere events like the event. e this for founders and investors to meet. Looking forward to next years edition," concludes Miikka Miettinen from Fiban.
The event took place in the heart of Helsinki at the Maria01 startup campus and served as an official side event to the Deep Tech Business Summit (NORDEEP), with partners Finnish Business Angels (FIBAN), Byro Legal and Laitilan Wirvoitusjuomatehdas. Event was hosted by Kamilla Sultanova.
