ESA BIC Finland for space-related startups
ESA BIC Finland and our incubator program
We, ESA BIC Finland, are part of the wide European ESA BIC network. We also have a broad network of other partners who help to support the initiative including financial partners, technical and business support partners, legal and IPR partners, city, and event partners.
Our aim is to support aspiring innovative entrepreneurs and young ambitious startups financially and technically to reveal their full space potential. We welcome ideas and business models proposing new space solutions and technologies in many different fields.
- Your innovative idea utilizes space technology, data or expertise, and targets the non-space market, or you have developed something new and potentially interesting for the space market.
- Your company is no more than 5 years old, or you will start a new company.
- Your team is or will locate in innovative and startup-friendly Finland.
Identify your space connection!
Please identity your own space connection out of the following three types: 1) An upstream space connection; 2) A downstream space connection; or 3) A technology transfer. For more detailed information about the three types, download and read the document below.
Your idea exploits or introduces new technology in the space domain, or you intend to be active as a supplier to the space sector, in one of the following areas (including systems, sub-systems, components, and services):
- Launchers
- Satellites
- Ground systems
- Human spaceflights
Your idea is about utilising space systems or exploiting space technology in a non-space domain (e.g. on Earth) in one of the following areas:
- Satellite Navigation
- Earth Observation
- Satellite Communication
Visit ESA Space Solutions and ESA IP for commercialization websites and search for technology you can use. Access to EO data here. Examples include:
- Hardware
- Software or Firmware
- Knowledge, processes
- Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
ESA and Business Finland fund these projects jointly. Whether consumer, business, or both, we help startups and entreprenuers to introduce new technologies to ESA and its partner network, or to transfer existing ESA space technologies from hardware to data such as satellite data to terrestrial uses.
