100STARTUPS: Building Physical AI

Kiuas and node.vc are bringing together two founders who built the sensing and display tech behind physical AI for an honest discussion on stage.

Building a hardware startup, researching robotics, studying engineering, or just curious about where AI meets the real world? This evening is for you.

Urho Konttori co-founded Varjo, one of Europe's best-known XR hardware companies. Now, with Distance, he's taking lightfield displays into cars and armored vehicles. He sits down with Mårten Skogö, co-founder of Tobii and now a deeptech and hardware investor at node.vc, for an open conversation about what it takes to scale hardware, from both sides of the table.

On stage

  • Urho Konttori, CEO and co-founder of Distance Technologies, turning transparent surfaces into intelligent interfaces. Co-founder of Varjo.
  • Mårten Skogö, partner at node.vc. Co-founder of Tobii, pioneer in eye tracking and attention computing.

What we'll dig into

  • Possibilities in physical AI: what can we do with it and what kind of future we're looking at
  • What the hardware and physical AI startup landscape looks like
  • What it takes to scale a hardware company

In the room
You don't need a company or a prototype to join. If you're building, researching, studying or just curious, you belong here. Come meet others in the space over pizza and canned drinks, on us. Hosted by Kiuas and node.vc.

This is a curated event and we go through all registrations personally, to keep the room a good mix of builders, researchers and students.

What is 100STARTUPS?

A series of events designed to turn your ideas into impact, beginning on August 26 and building up to the main event on October 21–22.

Through masterclasses and expert guidance, participants will validate ideas, form teams, test business concepts, and build foundations of new startups together.

We aim to validate 100 concepts throughout pre-event training sessions and workshops and the in-person two-day main event. You don’t need experience, funding, or a ready business plan, just the courage to start.
