Startups in Arctic15: Nosore, a Research to Business case in the field of HealthTech!

23 of Aalto Startup Center’s ecosystem startups are attending the Arctic15 event. Arctic15 is a Startup Investor Event and a meeting spot for startup entrepreneurs, investors, corporates and media from 60+ countries.

Nosore: We are a Research to Business team in Aalto University. Our team has experienced technology, clinical and business professionals. We are developing a preventive solution to pressure ulcers. This project started in January 2022 and the startup kick off is at end of 2023.

What is your innovation?

Nosore: We are developing an automatic end-to-end preventive solution against pressure ulcers. Our end users are wheelchair patients who have an increased risk of getting pressure ulcers. We are developing a smart sheet with embedded sensors which automatically identifies the elevated risk of pressure ulcers. The system automatically activates preventive action, no patient/care personnel action is needed.

What kind of problem does your innovation solve?

Nosore: Pressure ulcers can start in just a few hours and is often unnoticed by care people. Pressure ulcers kill bedridden and wheelchair patients and causes massive costs to health care. Every third spinal cord injured personnel will get a pressure ulcer.

What are your main Sustainable Development Goals?

Nosore:  

SDG-3SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being*: Our innovation prevents pressure ulcers and aids in the good health and well-being of bedridden and wheelchair patients, who are at risk of developing pressure ulcers.

What are you currently looking for and what are your next steps?

Nosore: We are aiming at hospital and wheelchair distribution markets. We will develop a new generation preventive pillow and distribution channels.
