Finance & Funding: How to Calculate Your Market Potential (TAM, SAM, SOM) and Unit Economics

Location: Aalto Startup Center, Otakaari 5 I, A Grid, I-Wing, 4th Floor In this training we will cover the main issues and terms when researching your innovation’s market potential and how to present it to your investors. You will be given ASUC proprietary Market Size Calculator (excel template) that you can save in your startup’s data room and work with during the Business Generator program. Your TAM (total available market), SAM (serviceable available market) & SOM (serviceable obtainable market) build the foundations for your financial planning and funding strategy further on in Aalto Business Generator program. Unit economics describes your business model’s revenues and costs in relation to an individual unit (service or product). It is a simple, but powerful tool to help you understand the long term sustainability of your startup.

The data produced through unit economics analysis can be integral to the short-term and long-term financial planning of your startup. It will help you 1) forecast your profits, 2) help you optimise your product offering and 3) assess your startup’s market sustainability.
